Role Overview
OneFootball can leapfrog to the next phase of growth by state-of-the-art Generative AI applications.
We are seeking a strategic and outcome-oriented VP of Engineering to provide strategic vision, leadership, and accountability for OneFootball and to lead and scale our global engineering organization who will report directly to our CEO. As a core member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for aligning our technology vision with business goals and delivering high-impact outcomes across our core product, infrastructure, and monetization initiatives. You will lead and mentor Engineering leadership, empowering them to drive technical excellence, leadership, and accountability throughout their teams. This is a high-impact, business-critical role driving technical excellence, speed of execution, and measurable business value in a fast-paced, app-first environment.

You will lead a team of Engineering Directors and Managers, empowering them to drive high performance, strong engineering culture, and ownership at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Technical Leadership
- Develop and execute a forward-looking technology strategy that accelerates our product innovation and revenue growth.
- Take full accountability for the delivery of the engineering roadmap, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and with measurable business impact.
- Partner with executive leadership, Product, Data, and Commercial to ensure technology investments directly support OneFootball’s mission and financial objectives.
- Monitor and report on the financial performance of technology initiatives, using data-driven insights to optimize ROI.
- Build and ship some of the best content generation and personalization models using SoTA techniques, open source and pushing the envelope on engagement.
Leadership and Team Development
- Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven track record of conveying complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including management, employees, and external stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Engineering leaders, fostering a culture of leadership, ownership, and accountability at every level and instill best practices in their teams.
- Champion modern engineering practices and a collaborative, high-performance culture that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Operational Excellence and Delivery
- Ensure the reliable, secure, and scalable operation of our app, backend systems, and infrastructure, supporting hundreds of millions of user sessions per month.
- Implement world-class engineering practices for planning, execution, and delivery ensuring speed, quality, and resilience.
- Oversee risk management, compliance, and technical debt reduction in parallel with feature delivery.
- Ensure technology operations including data management, cybersecurity, and compliance meet industry standards and regulatory requirements for audits.
- Implement robust processes for project management, delivery tracking, and risk mitigation to ensure successful outcomes.
Stakeholder and Resource Management
- Manage technology budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to maximize efficiency and business value. Own and optimize the engineering budget, making strategic decisions on build vs. buy, resourcing, and tooling.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful delivery of key engineering initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience (10+ years) in senior technology leadership roles (CTO, VP of Engineering, etc.) within a high-growth, product-led company.
- Proven success in delivering scalable app-based products with millions of users, preferably in a consumer or content-focused environment.
- Deep knowledge of modern engineering practices, cloud architecture (e.g., AWS or GCP), and mobile-first product development.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing technology strategies that drive business growth and financial performance in particular in an app environment.
- Exceptional ability to lead through influence, drive cross-functional execution, and inspire engineering culture across a 100+ people org.
- Strong communication and leadership presence; able to represent engineering with clarity to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with budget ownership and delivering technology projects with measurable business outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Deep Learning modelling expertise is highly preferred.
- Experience in agile, DevOps, and modern software development methodologies.
- Familiarity with data analytics, machine learning, or AI technologies.
- Prior experience in a startup or high-growth technology company.
- Prior experience in the sports, media, or digital advertising ecosystem would be a big plus.
