Make architecture matter — when it matters most. We’re looking for an Enterprise Architect to shape the future of a UK financial mutual at a defining point in its journey — with a planned merger (subject to regulatory approval) and an ambitious strategy for growth and efficiency supported by a bold programme of technology modernisation. It’s a senior, high‑trust role for someone who enjoys bringing clarity to complex landscapes and making pragmatic decisions — ensuring our technology choices directly enable the business to deliver on its ambitions for growth, efficiency and long‑term sustainability, while strengthening resilience.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll set the enterprise architecture direction and roadmap that enables our growth and efficiency strategy, partnering with Executive leaders, Operations and Change teams to:
- Define and deliver the target‑state architecture across applications, data, integration and infrastructure.
- Provide architectural leadership for integration planning for the proposed merger, and (subject to approval) support delivery of the integration roadmap — simplifying the estate and sequencing change safely.
- Be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, translating strategy into clear options, trade‑offs and decisions.
- Build in security, resilience and data integrity by design, meeting FCA/PRA and Operational Resilience expectations.
- Run proportionate architecture governance that enables pace, consistency and confidence.
- Champion modernisation, reducing technical debt and improving cost‑to‑serve to unlock efficiency — without compromising service.
- Grow architectural capability and a culture of pragmatic, outcomes‑focused decision‑making.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven Enterprise Architecture experience in financial services or another highly regulated environment.
- A strong track record modernising legacy estates (cloud migration — Azure preferred — plus rationalisation and decommissioning).
- A solid understanding of regulatory, security and operational resilience requirements.
- The credibility to influence senior stakeholders, engineers and delivery partners.
- A pragmatic mindset — balancing long‑term direction with what can be delivered, safely and well.
Our values:
How you lead matters as much as what you deliver. We’re looking for someone who is:
- Courageous — willing to challenge, simplify and make tough calls.
- Principled — acting with integrity, transparency and stewardship.
- Effective — focused on outcomes, delivery and real‑world impact.
A rare opportunity to shape enterprise architecture at a defining moment. Genuine Executive‑level influence and visibility. Purpose‑led work in a member‑owned organisation — building better outcomes for members. Hybrid working, with time across Brighton and Glasgow. A culture that values clarity, trust and doing the right thing — not just the easy thing.
