Using insight drawn from customer feedback, adviser experience, and reinsurance partners—plus our rich data—you’ll identify opportunities to enhance our underwriting philosophy and deliver smarter, more effective rules. You’ll play a key role in optimising our new SSG rules engines and tools, ensuring they operate at peak performance and support our bold growth ambitions. Working collaboratively with teams across Distribution, Proposition, and Direct, you’ll help deliver exceptional customer outcomes while upholding the highest standards of risk management.
What you’ll be doing:
- Developing, testing, and implementing rule changes across multiple underwriting engines.
- Collaborating with reinsurers to ensure our philosophy aligns with their manuals and appetite.
- Project, monitoring, and reporting on the impact of any changes.
- Clearly communicating updates to our Distribution team and wider business.
- Providing expert underwriting input to Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, and cross‑functional teams.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience with SSG (IPL) and/or UnderwriteMe rules engines (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of Life, Critical Illness, and TPD products (IP knowledge a bonus).
- Ability to manage and refine multiple underwriting rules engines.
- Proven experience analysing rule data and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Track record of developing and implementing rules in a business environment.
- Confidence in analysing, presenting, and drawing clear conclusions.
- Collaborative, open communication style—comfortable working within a small, fast-moving team.
- Understanding of UK distribution, insurance, and reinsurance markets.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills, internally and externally.
- Flexibility and curiosity to learn new skills as our medical evidence strategy evolves.
