This is an on-site role for a Civil Engineering Gang based in Wales. The Civil Engineering Gang will carry out day-to-day site works such as groundworks, drainage installation, ducting, kerbing, concreting, and associated reinstatement. The team will interpret drawings and specifications, set out work areas, and ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Operating plant and small tools (where appropriately trained)
- Assisting with traffic management and site logistics
- Maintaining a clean, organized work environment
- Completing site records
- Reporting issues to the Site Supervisor or Site Manager
- Supporting adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures at all times
Qualifications:
- Experience working as part of a civil engineering gang or site team on highways, utilities, groundworks, or similar infrastructure projects
- Practical skills in tasks such as excavation, drainage installation, kerbing, ducting, concreting, and general reinstatement
- Understanding of site health, safety, and environmental procedures, with a strong commitment to safe working practices
- Ability to read and follow basic drawings, method statements, and work instructions
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other site personnel
- CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Relevant plant or machinery tickets (e.g., dumper, roller, excavator) are advantageous
- Full driving licence
- Flexibility to work to project schedules, including occasional extended hours or weekends when required
- Previous experience on design-and-build or water management projects is beneficial but not essential
