About the Client
Our client is a 9‑year‑old boy who is generally happy and enjoys interacting with his care team. He requires assistance with mobility and secretion management and is PEG‑fed for both nutrition and medication throughout the day. He lives in a rural home with his family, with no access to public transport, so staff travel by car, and his parents have a van that allows him to go out in his wheelchair. He experienced severe birth asphyxia at term, resulting in whole‑body cerebral palsy with dystonic movements and requiring a bespoke manual handling care plan. He also has learning difficulties, cortical visual impairment, gastro‑oesophageal reflux, and recurrent chest infections. He is non‑verbal but is able to communicate some of his needs through vocalizations and sounds.
