The Information Governance Officer will be the first point of contact for information governance queries and will be crucial in facilitating individuals' rights to access their personal data and ensuring the organisation adheres to legal and regulatory requirements including but not limited to:
- Supporting Onebright's Group Compliance Manager and a specific programme of work to ensure we achieve the annual Information Governance (IG) work plan, including working with Information Asset Owners (IAOs) to complete actions, policy reviews, and project-manage IG work streams.
- Process requests for access to data subject records, monitor the progress of each request and prioritise to ensure that applications are turned around within the timeframes set out in the legislation.
- Manage other data subject rights, including erasure, objection, rectification, restriction and the right to be informed.
- Proactively reacting to issues and situations threatening staff and client information confidentiality. Identifying and mitigating risks.
- Support the investigation of incidents which involve breaches of confidentiality.
- Supporting the Complaints Team in managing Onebright's response to complaints and issues relating to IG.
- Provide data/information required for reporting purposes, including reports to the Information Governance reporting structure.
- Working as part of the wider Data Protection Team to ensure the department's day-to-day functions are delivered.
What we need from you:
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area.
- Extensive working experience in preparing subject access requests and responding to other individual right requests.
- Ability to receive, understand and communicate complex information from multiple systems.
- Ability to identify and mitigate data protection risks.
- Ability to understand when issues are arising and escalate them quickly and appropriately.
- Good understanding of Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and experience of applying the principles of the Data Protection Act.
- Working knowledge of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA's).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and use own initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent IT Skills and Microsoft 365 programmes.
- Excellent organisational skills and time management to prioritise to meet deadlines.
