We are recruiting on behalf of a long-established and highly respected construction contractor operating across the commercial, refurbishment, maintenance and specialist project sectors. The business delivers a diverse portfolio of works for both public and private sector clients, with individual project values typically ranging from £1m to £15m+, often involving technically complex schemes delivered within live or occupied environments.
This Senior Quantity Surveyor position offers significant commercial ownership, working closely with senior leadership and project teams to manage financial performance, mitigate risk and support the successful delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities- Take full commercial responsibility for multiple construction projects from inception to completion.
- Prepare and manage cost plans, interim valuations, variations, final accounts and commercial reporting.
- Procure and commercially manage subcontractor packages, including negotiation and agreement of accounts.
- Produce accurate cost forecasts, cashflow projections and financial reports.
- Provide contractual advice and ensure compliance with relevant forms of contract (JCT / NEC).
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
- Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team where required.
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing projects in the £1m–£15m+ range.
- Solid understanding of cost control, reporting, procurement and contract administration.
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- MRICS or working towards chartership.
- Experience delivering refurbishment or live-environment projects.
- Competitive salary up to £85,000, depending on experience.
