Contracts Manager in Wokingham

Wokingham Full-Time 70000 £ / year On-site

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established, family-run main contractor delivering projects across Berkshire and the wider Thames Valley. The business has been established for several decades and has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across the commercial, education, healthcare and high-end residential sectors. Projects range from smaller works of approximately £100,000 through to schemes valued at £5 million, including new build, refurbishment and extension projects. With an excellent pipeline of secured and upcoming work, the company is entering an exciting period of growth and is now looking to strengthen its operational team with an experienced Contracts Manager. Despite its continued growth, the business has retained the culture of a family-run contractor. They have excellent employee retention, an established team and a collaborative working environment where people are trusted to take ownership of their projects. Contracts Manager – The Role The Contracts Manager will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects, typically overseeing two to three live schemes at any one time, with the potential to manage additional smaller works where required. You will work closely with individual Site Managers, the commercial team and senior management, maintaining an overview of each project from pre-construction through to successful completion. Responsibilities will include: * Managing multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover * Overseeing and supporting Site Managers and project teams * Taking responsibility for programme, quality, health & safety and overall project performance * Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors * Working closely with the QS and commercial team throughout each project * Maintaining a strong understanding of project costs, variations, procurement and commercial performance * Reviewing progress against programme and identifying potential risks at an early stage * Attending client, progress and internal project meetings * Supporting procurement and subcontractor appointments where required * Ensuring projects are successfully delivered while maintaining strong client relationships Contracts Manager – Experience The successful candidate will need previous experience working for a Principal or Main Contractor, ideally with responsibility for multiple projects simultaneously. Experience across commercial, education, healthcare and/or high-end residential construction would be particularly relevant. You will need to be commercially aware, with a good understanding of construction costs and the ability to work effectively alongside a Quantity Surveyor. Previous QS experience could be advantageous, but is not essential. Above all, the business is looking for someone who can take ownership of their projects, support site teams, build strong client relationships and maintain control of both the operational and commercial aspects of delivery. Why Join? This is a particularly good time to join the company. The business has a fantastic pipeline of work ahead and is going through a controlled period of growth, creating genuine long-term opportunities within an already established team. Projects are also deliberately concentrated within approximately an hour of the company's Berkshire office, providing a much more manageable geographical patch than many comparable Contracts Manager positions. For someone looking to join a stable, family-run contractor where they can become an important part of the business rather than simply another number, this represents an excellent long-term opportunity. Location: Wokingham / Berkshire Project Locations: Berkshire & Thames Valley Project Values: £100k–£5m Sectors: Commercial, Education, Healthcare & High-End Residential Position: Contracts Manager Employment: Permanent For more information or a confidential discussion regarding the opportunity, please apply with an up-to-date CV or contact Alex at One Way on (phone number removed)
