Estimator Job Description
Working closely with the Pre-Construction and Commercial teams, you'll take ownership of the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission, preparing accurate and competitive cost plans across a variety of projects.
The role offers excellent variety, with involvement in both new build and refurbishment schemes across multiple sectors.
Estimator Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed estimates and competitive tender submissions.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Producing accurate take-offs and cost plans.
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Identifying value engineering opportunities.
- Assessing project risks and commercial opportunities.
- Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
- Supporting project handovers to the delivery team following successful bids.
Estimator Criteria
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as an Estimator with a main contractor.
- Experience pricing both new build and refurbishment projects.
- A strong background within the residential sector, ideally including high-end or bespoke developments.
- Exposure to projects valued between £250,000 and £6 million.
- Excellent commercial awareness and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to build strong working relationships with clients, consultants and the wider supply chain.
