An established regional main contractor is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, working on a varied portfolio of construction projects across the South of England. The business delivers a diverse range of new-build, refurbishment, extension and design-and-build projects across the education, healthcare, care home, commercial, leisure and heritage sectors. Typical schemes include school and educational facility developments, care home construction and extensions, commercial buildings, community facilities, specialist refurbishments and the restoration or alteration of existing buildings. With a strong pipeline of work and a varied client base, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial experience across interesting projects rather than being restricted to one particular sector. Assistant QS / QS - The Role Working closely with the commercial and operational teams, you will be involved in managing the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account. The level of responsibility will depend on experience, with the opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to develop their skills or an established Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of individual projects. Key Responsibilities: * Procurement and commercial management of subcontractor packages. * Preparing valuations, applications for payment and cost reports. * Monitoring project expenditure, budgets and financial forecasts. * Managing variations, subcontractor accounts and final accounts. * Supporting commercial delivery from initial procurement through to completion. * Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and the wider project team. * Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. * Maintaining strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers. Assistant QS / QS - About You: * Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor within UK construction. * Ideally experience working for a main contractor on new-build, refurbishment or design-and-build projects. * Good understanding of construction procurement, valuations, variations and cost control. * Strong commercial awareness and organisational skills. * Confident communicating with subcontractors, suppliers and project teams. * Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification would be advantageous. Applications are welcomed from Assistant Quantity Surveyors looking to progress into a more independent role, as well as established Quantity Surveyors seeking a new opportunity with a regional contractor. Assistant QS / QS - What's on Offer? * Competitive salary and package, dependent on experience. * Varied portfolio of new-build, refurbishment and specialist construction projects. * Opportunity to gain exposure to multiple sectors and project types. * Supportive and experienced commercial team. * Long-term career development and progression opportunities. * Stable regional contractor with an established pipeline of work.
