Trainee Estimator / Quantity Surveyor Job Description Reporting into the Commercial Team, you'll assist with both estimating and quantity surveying duties across a variety of interior fit-out and refurbishment projects.
This is a varied role where you'll develop your commercial knowledge while supporting the preparation of tenders, cost plans and project reporting.
Responsibilities will include: Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates and quotations.
Measuring quantities from drawings and specifications.
Obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Assisting with Bills of Quantities and tender documentation.
Supporting cost planning and commercial reporting.
Tracking project costs, variations and commercial performance.
Reviewing technical drawings and project documentation.
Updating cost databases and commercial records.
Assisting with value engineering exercises.
Supporting senior Estimators and Quantity Surveyors throughout the project lifecycle.
Visiting project sites as required.
Trainee Estimator / Quantity Surveyor Candidate Criteria This opportunity would suit someone looking to begin or develop a career within estimating or quantity surveying.
You may already be working as a: Trainee Estimator Assistant Estimator Trainee Quantity Surveyor Assistant Quantity Surveyor Commercial Assistant You'll ideally have: Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Competency using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
An interest in commercial interiors, construction or fit-out projects.
The ability to interpret technical drawings (or a willingness to learn).
An HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline (completed or currently studying) would be advantageous.
