This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a successful and well-established business delivering structural steel packages across a variety of major construction projects.
The company is open to considering candidates at either Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor level, with the position and level of responsibility tailored around experience.
Projects range from smaller specialist packages through to major multi-million-pound schemes, with work across the South, Hampshire and into London.
The position also offers a flexible approach to working, combining office, home and project-based working.
Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor – The Role Working within the steel division, you will take commercial responsibility for structural steel packages across a varied portfolio of construction projects.
You will work closely with the commercial, project, design and operational teams, as well as maintaining relationships with main contractors, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
Depending on your level of experience, you will manage projects commercially from initial stages through construction, completion and final account.
Responsibilities will include:
Commercial management of structural steel projects and packages
Cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting
Preparing and managing applications for payment
Preparing, submitting and agreeing valuations
Managing variations and change throughout the project
Monitoring project costs against budgets
Procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and suppliers
Managing contractual correspondence and documentation
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
Working closely with Project Managers and operational teams
Attending client, project and commercial meetings
Developing strong relationships with main contractors and clients
Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects
Preparing, negotiating and agreeing final accounts
The exact level of responsibility will depend on experience, with applications welcomed from both established Quantity Surveyors and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors.

The steel division provides specialist expertise across the delivery of structural steel packages, working alongside leading main contractors and clients on technically challenging construction schemes.
Their project portfolio is varied and includes major commercial developments, residential schemes, public-sector projects, infrastructure and complex refurbishment projects.
Projects can range from smaller specialist works through to substantial multi-million-pound packages, giving the commercial team exposure to a wide variety of project sizes, construction methods and contractual environments.
The wider business has an established presence within the UK construction industry, providing the stability of a larger group alongside the specialist environment of its steel division.
Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor – The Ideal Candidate The company is open to candidates at either Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
A background within construction, structural steel or specialist subcontracting
Strong commercial and cost management experience
Experience managing valuations and variations
Experience with applications for payment and final accounts
Good contractual and commercial awareness
Strong communication and negotiation skills
The ability to build effective relationships with clients and project teams
The ability to manage your own commercial workload
A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification would be advantageous
Previous structural steel experience would be beneficial but is not essential. Candidates from other specialist subcontracting or relevant construction backgrounds will also be considered.
Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor – Location & Hybrid Working The position will be based from the company's office in the Wimborne area, with a flexible approach to hybrid working.
You would typically attend the office around 1–2 days per week, with the opportunity to work from home alongside project-based working.
Travel will be required to projects across Hampshire and into London as necessary, depending on the schemes you are commercially responsible for.
