We are looking for an experienced Groundworker to join the civils team on a high-profile, long-term infrastructure project at AWE Aldermaston. The primary scope involves variation work including the excavation of approximately 800 mm deep service trenches, installation of multi-utility cables, and subsequent backfill and reinstatement works. You will be working around 820 tonne 360 excavators in a live construction environment with strict quality, safety, and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely excavate 800 mm deep trenches to exact line and level using 360 tracked excavators
- Install and bed multi-utility cables, ducts, and associated infrastructure
- Perform precise backfill and compaction operations using suitable excavator attachments
- Carry out daily machine inspections, greasing, and basic maintenance
- Work in accordance with method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-dig systems
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and environmental compliance on a nuclear-licensed site
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, banksmen, and cable installation teams
- Adhere to all AWE site security, safety, and behavioural standards
Essential Requirements
- Valid CSCS card (preferably Blue Skilled Worker or Gold Supervisor)
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass AWE security vetting (BPSS minimum; higher clearance may be required)
- Previous experience working on secure, regulated, or MOD/AWE sites is highly advantageous
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
