We are working in partnership with a well-established and growing regional contractor to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based near Guildford. This is an excellent opportunity for a QS with a strong civils or groundworks background to join a business with a solid reputation, a strong pipeline of secured work, and clear growth plans.
About Our Client
Our client is a privately-owned contractor delivering a range of civil engineering, groundworks and design & build projects across the South of England. With decades of industry experience, they operate as both a principal contractor and specialist subcontractor, working across multiple sectors and maintaining long-standing client relationships. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their commercial team, which currently consists of around 10 professionals.
Quantity Surveyor Projects & Sectors:
You will be involved in a diverse range of schemes, including:
- Groundworks and infrastructure packages for residential developers
- Roads, drainage and utility installations
- Enabling works and site preparation
- Commercial, education and care sector developments
- Design & build projects incorporating RC and traditional construction
Project values typically range from £300k to £20m+, offering a good mix of smaller fast-paced jobs and larger, more complex schemes.
Quantity Surveyor Job Description:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility across multiple projects or packages, including:
- Subcontract procurement and management
- Preparation of valuations, variations and final accounts
- Cost reporting and forecasting
- Working closely with operational teams to ensure commercial performance
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients and supply chain
Quantity Surveyor Requirements:
- Circa 4+ years experience in a Quantity Surveying role
- Background in civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of commercial processes and contracts
- Able to manage workloads across multiple live projects
- Proactive, organised and confident in a client-facing environment
