We are looking for a motivated IT Technician to join our clients Desktop Support Team on a temporary basis. In this role, you will provide 1st and 2nd line IT support, ensuring incidents and service requests are managed efficiently and resolved to a high standard. You will play a key role in supporting end users across the organisation, maintaining IT systems, and ensuring assets and services operate effectively within a regulated ISO environment.
To be considered for this role:
- You will be required to have a minimum of 3 years UK based relevant work experience.
- Be able to commute easily to Theale.
- Have previous 1st & 2nd Line experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of IT incidents and service requests, managing them through to resolution or escalation where required.
- Escalate issues to third-party providers or internal infrastructure teams when necessary.
- Build strong relationships with remote sites and users to improve the overall IT support experience.
- Perform routine IT tasks such as password resets, file restores, new account setups, and user access management.
- Assist with new starter device builds, onboarding, and induction training.
- Maintain and update IT documentation, onboarding guides, knowledge base articles, and FAQs.
- Ensure IT assets are accurately recorded and maintained in the asset register in line with ISO 27001 compliance.
- Install and patch software and devices using standard tools and procedures.
- Support and maintain local area network infrastructure, escalating issues where required.
- Maintain local hardware stock and peripherals.
- Assist with IT projects and routine maintenance tasks including system patching and monitoring.
- Support reporting on IT service desk calls, asset management, and backup status.
- Assist with change requests and compliance activities relating to ISO standards such as ISO 27001 and ISO 9001.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Experience providing 1st / 2nd line support in Windows environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10 & 11.
- Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Experience working within a service desk environment managing incidents and escalations.
- Excellent communication, organisational and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a logical approach to problem solving.
Desirable:
- Experience with macOS environments.
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
- Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Experience working in a hybrid Azure AD / Entra ID environment.
- PowerShell scripting experience.
- Experience working in ISO regulated environments.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Additional Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS check required.
- Strong commitment to maintaining high standards of service, safety and compliance.
