Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate end‑to‑end recruitment administration, including advertising roles, scheduling interviews, issuing offers, and completing pre‑employment checks.
- Support managers throughout the recruitment process and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Manage onboarding tasks such as contracts, induction arrangements and probation tracking.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and support reporting needs.
- Ensure all new starters complete required documentation, including right‑to‑work and DBS checks.
- HR Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records in the IRIS HR system, ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Respond to employee queries on policies, leave and benefits.
- Prepare HR documents, reports and presentations.
- Support contract changes, family leave, sickness reporting, leaver processes and other lifecycle administration.
- Produce routine HR data and metrics to support decision‑making.
- Support compliance monitoring, including right‑to‑work, training records and policy acknowledgements.
- Employee Relations
- Support engagement activities such as surveys, wellbeing initiatives and feedback processes.
- Act as a point of contact for employee queries, providing timely and professional support.
- Assist managers with ER matters including absence, probation, informal performance concerns and wellbeing.
- Prepare letters, documentation and meeting notes.
- Lead formal ER processes, investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and consultations, with oversight from the Head of HR for complex cases.
- Policies & Compliance
- Support the review and updating of HR policies in line with UK employment law.
- Ensure HR processes follow legislation, policy and best practice.
- Contribute to improving HR systems, templates and processes.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
Person Specification
Essential
- CIPD Level 5 (qualified or working towards) or equivalent experience.
- Experience in an HR support or coordinator role.
- Strong understanding of HR processes and UK employment law.
- Experience in recruitment and employee lifecycle administration.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
- Confident using HR systems and Microsoft Office.
- Experience managing ER casework, including investigations, disciplinaries and grievances.
Desirable
- Experience in the charity, social care or not‑for‑profit sector.
- Experience supporting HR projects or organisational development work.
- Familiarity with IRIS HR software.
