The project seeks not only to improve outcomes for participating children but also to build sustainable capacity within schools, strengthen science leadership, and further develop One Tenth Human’s own practice and understanding of effective creative science education.
Role Description
Freelance evaluator for the new schools-based project, Terri’s Expanded Universe, working with 7–9 primary schools across the Morecambe Bay area.
The Evaluation
The evaluation aims to understand and evidence the impact of the project on children, teachers, science leaders and One Tenth Human artists. The evaluation should both evidence impact and generate learning that can inform ongoing project development, future programmes and wider sector practice. The evaluator will work collaboratively with One Tenth Human during the inception phase to develop and refine a Theory of Change that will underpin the evaluation framework, intended outcomes and enquiry questions. The evaluation should support collection and analysis of baseline, interim and end‑point data across the lifetime of the programme in order to understand both immediate and longer‑term outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience designing and delivering evaluations of arts and/or education projects
- Knowledge of arts-based learning, teacher professional development and ideally primary science
- Experience of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Experience of analysing and synthesising complex data
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience producing high-quality public-facing evaluation reports
- Strong collaborative and facilitation skills
- Current DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Experience evaluating science education projects
- Experience evaluating teacher professional development programmes
- Experience of participatory and child‑centred research approaches
