Our Client is looking for a proactive and organised Route Planner on a temp to perm basis to support their busy warehouse and distribution operation. In this role you will be ensuring the journey or delivery is as fast, cost effective and safe as possible, while minimizing fuel consumption, time and costs.
Working Hours: 22.00pm to 06.30am Sunday to Friday with the flexibility to work additional hours in peak periods when required.
Salary - up to £16.34 per hour
Key responsibilities- Plan and analyse delivery routes using computer-based planning systems, including Maxoptra.
- Ensure vehicle utilisation meets KPI targets and supports agreed service levels.
- Adding overnight orders to the correct vehicles and delivery sequences.
- Review new delivery points and existing routes for efficiencies and change routes where appropriate.
- Co-ordinate daily van loading and support yard supervision to ensure vehicles are loaded accurately and on time.
- Booking of customer deliveries.
- Provide written handovers daily to dispatch and warehouse teams.
- Work with the Despatch Manager, Returns, Warehouse and customer services teams to ensure processes are completed on time.
- Monitor driver route compliance and support the coordination of company drivers and third-party courier partners.
- Liaising with courier companies to ensure collections are completed on time and in full.
- Support warehouse activity when required, including order processing, picking, packing, pallet preparation, loading and unloading.
- Work in line with company health and safety procedures and actively contribute to continuous improvement.
- Previous experience gained in route planning, distribution coordination or a logistics role.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to manage changing priorities in a busy environment.
- Confident using route planning, delivery or ePOD systems.
- Pro-active and a team player.
- Must be physically fit with the ability to lift boxes.
