About the role
We are looking for a Store Manager to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Store Manager, you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will be responsible for the overall daily operations of your store, ensuring efficiency and profitability.
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on-the-job coaching and feedback. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and line managing a team of Shift Leaders and colleagues in one store, ensuring regular quality time with them on shift.
- Knowing all of your colleagues and understanding how they feel about working within your store through talking and listening.
- Leading and enabling a culture where colleague experience is at the heart of everything we do.
- Role modelling a self-serve culture and using available tools to resolve queries while encouraging your team to do the same.
- Ensuring colleagues are trained, have a warm welcome to One Stop, and are compliant in all aspects of pay and employment compliance.
- Looking after the safety, health, and wellbeing of your colleagues by supporting them to be at work.
- Reviewing the shape and capability of your team to ensure a future-fit workforce through inspiring great performance.
- Completing all people leadership tasks for your team including absence management and problem-solving.
- Recognising your team's contribution and performance and celebrating with them regularly.
- Understanding the resource needs for your store, spotting and developing talent internally and externally recruiting the best people in the industry.
- Managing all KPIs for your store and sharing ideas with other Store Managers to maximise growth and profitability.
- Being responsible for the operation of all services in your store including post office local, EvRi, and vending.
- Implementing business changes and new ways of working in your store.
- Resourcing your store within your labour budget to ensure it remains open for trading and compliant.
- Ensuring candidate care is a priority and recruitment principles are followed.
- Coaching your team daily to deliver a great shopping trip and excellent retail store standards.
- Reviewing local competitor activity to understand threats/opportunities and turning insights into action.
- Leading a robust health and safety culture, reviewing preventable incidents, accidents, and audit performance.
- Supporting your team with completing tasks such as serving customers, replenishment of stock, and completing safe and legal routines.
- Being the DPS/Premises holder and responsible for the sale of all alcohol from your store.
- If the store has a Post Office Local, operating and managing all Post Office processes, which requires passing a Post Office Financial and criminal conviction background check.
