Overview
We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will be working in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. You will focus on improving service through on the job coaching and feedback and you will have a hands-on approach to delivering practical actions to improve store performance. Your guidance will help keep the store a safe place to work and shop.
You will be responsible for
- Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
- Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, making sure decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety
- Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
- Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere
- Ensure the store is always clean, tidy, and well presented
- Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to our customers
- Make sure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect what good looks like
- Take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent recurrence
- Proactively manage queues to deliver a great shopping trip for customers
- Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns
- Be knowledgeable about the store and coordinate others to deliver practical improvements
- Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
- Deliver communication to the team to keep them informed
- Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
- Put the customer first in everything you do and resolve customer queries
- Recognise and celebrate colleagues delivering great service
- Identify and remove obstacles to delivering great service
- Resolve colleagues’ queries in the absence of the Store Manager, or escalate as appropriate
- Ensure appropriate staffing and arrange cover for short-term absences/sickness
- Be a recognised Keyholder for the store and respond to alarm calls as needed
- Monitor and action internal communications, keeping colleagues informed
- Coordinate colleagues to meet customer and store needs and feedback issues to the Store Manager
- Balance time across service and replenishment areas
- Support the Store Manager in managing absence, conduct return to work interviews for CSA colleagues and report absence triggers in line with policy
- Build meaningful relationships with Area Manager and People Partner; escalate issues timely and seek coaching opportunities
