About the role
The One Stop – Shift Leader role is a pivotal position within our Tesco‑backed retail environment. As a Shift Leader you will own store activities, run duty shifts, coordinate a team, and drive a clean, safe, and customer‑centric store that consistently exceeds expectations.
Key focus areas include operational leadership, customer service excellence, and practical improvement initiatives that elevate the daily shopping experience.
You will be responsible for
- Coordinating the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
- Opening/closing procedures, duty cover, and making decisions that balance customer, colleague, and safety interests.
- Acting as the go‑to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager, handling day‑to‑day operational queries.
- Supporting the Store Manager with seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere.
- Ensuring the store remains clean, tidy, and well presented at all times.
- Prioritising replenishment of high‑value products and monitoring shelf edge labels.
- Executing timely corrections for overcharges and preventing recurrence.
- Proactively managing queues to deliver a great shopping trip for customers.
- Coordinating breaks, daily priorities, and shift coverage amid shifts, absences, or sickness.
- Supporting absence management, returning‑to‑work interviews, and policy compliance.
- Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners for timely issue escalation and coaching.
- Serving as a recognised keyholder and attending alarm calls to ensure store safety and security.
- Communicating updates and internal messages to the team promptly.
- Balancing service and replenishment responsibilities.
- If the store includes a Post Office Local, performing day‑to‑day Post Office operations, including passing the required background check.
