We’re looking for a Lead Catering Supervisor to support the day‑to‑day running of our Food Stop at Brownhills Head Office, working 34 hours per week and reporting to the Facilities Manager.
Responsibilities
- Managing the preparation, service and portion control of quality hot and cold food, including sandwiches, drinks and salads, and preparing and delivering buffets for meetings and training.
- Creating menus for seasonal, celebratory and diverse occasions.
- Adhering to Food Safety, food‑allergen risks and management.
- Ordering, taking delivery and stocking ambient, chilled, frozen, and Food Stop supplies; managing inventory.
- Managing the till, card machine and safe, ensuring correct procedures, accurate sales recording and timely administration.
- Providing a full menu offer for colleagues, ensuring service is cost neutral, controlling the budget and minimising waste.
- Ensuring daily, weekly and monthly due‑diligence routines are completed in line with HACCP and safe work practices.
- Maintaining Costa Coffee and all other catering equipment in working order.
- Adhering to COSHH, Food Safety and Health reporting incidents in line with procedures.
- Keeping all areas clean and appropriately presented.
- Providing outstanding guidance to the Food Stop team, fostering a positive environment.
- Acting as a natural lead supervisor, delegating and taking responsibility while working with team members.
- Communicating confidently with a wide range of Food Stop visitors.
- Attending and actively participating in business and team meetings and supporting initiatives at Head Office.
- Attending manager training and any other training relevant to the role and business.
- Escalating operational issues and completing tasks as required to the Facilities Manager.
- Reporting maintenance issues in line with procedures to ensure smooth operation of relevant equipment.
Requirements
- Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate essential.
- NVQ Level 4 in Hospitality and Catering Management essential/preferable.
- Experience in a catering environment and a similar role.
- Experience with Microsoft Office / Outlook applications essential.
- Good understanding of health and safety, food hygiene and allergens.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Experience balancing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Passion for catering with excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to follow and accurately record routines for due diligence.
- Flexibility to provide cover for sickness and holiday.
