We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be working in a fast‑paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will play an important role in the day‑to‑day operations of our store by providing excellent customer service, stocking shelves, processing payments and helping maintain the store’s appearance. As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will continuously look for ways to improve service in your store through on‑the‑job coaching and feedback. With your guidance, the store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
- Know our customers and serve them with passion and pride, providing great natural service.
- Encourage customers to give feedback on their shopping trip through completing the ‘Have Your Say’ survey.
- Work across all areas of the store—including online, tills, replenishment, vending and stock routines—to ensure tasks meet customer needs.
- Apply training to ensure safe working practices.
- Participate in seasonal, community and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
- Be knowledgeable about store performance, understanding your role in delivering profit.
- Live our values, make everyone feel welcome, and always follow company policies.
- Clock in and out accurately at the start and end of each shift to ensure correct payment.
- Maintain safety by following security procedures and using safety equipment when available.
- Follow the THINK 25 policy when serving age‑restricted products.
- Respond quickly to assistance calls or interventions on self‑service checkouts and explain actions to customers.
- Keep aisles clean, tidy and organised, preventing congestion.
- Occasionally run the shift in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
- Follow all training to keep yourself, others and the store safe and compliant.
- If the store has a Post Office Local, duties will include day‑to‑day post office operations.
You will need to undertake a Post Office financial and criminal conviction background check and must pass it to proceed; otherwise we may withdraw the job offer.

Everyone is welcome. We’re proud to be an inclusive workplace that celebrates diversity. As a Disability Confident Leader (Level 3), we commit to accessibility and reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process. Our six colleague networks—Armed Forces, Disability, LGBTQ+, Families & Carers, Race & Ethnicity, and Women—help foster a safe, supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
