The Radiographer supports high-integrity inspection activities for the aerospace and casting industries by performing Radiographic Testing (RT) in accordance with NAS410 / EN4179 and customer requirements. Working within a UKAS and NADCAP-accredited environment, the radiographer conducts film and digital radiography, maintains inspection documentation, and ensures strict compliance with radiation safety regulations. Level 2 personnel interpret radiographs and evaluate results, while Level 1 personnel perform exposures and support evaluation tasks under supervision. The role plays a key part in upholding quality, safety, and continuous improvement across all radiographic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Radiographic Testing (RT) in compliance with NAS410 / EN4179 and specific customer specifications
- Set up, expose, and process film and/or digital radiographs (DR/CR)
- Level 2: Interpret radiographs, assess results to acceptance criteria, and prepare/verify technique sheets
- Level 1: Perform exposures and support image evaluation under Level 2/3 supervision
- Maintain accurate inspection documentation, traceability records, and calibration status of equipment
- Ensure adherence to IRR17 and company radiation protection procedures
- Support a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Skills & Qualifications:
- Certified Radiographic Testing (RT) Level 1 or Level 2 to NAS410 / EN4179 (film and/or digital)
- Knowledge of NDT principles, radiography techniques, and radiation safety
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured technical procedures
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
