Position Summary

Argyll Ruane is seeking a certified and experienced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Trainer to deliver high-quality training in NDT disciplines, with a focus on Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD). The trainer will plan, prepare, and deliver NDT courses, support student development, and contribute to the continuous improvement of learning materials. This role requires an individual with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to upholding the standards of professional NDT training and certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard classroom and practical training in certified NDT disciplines
  • Plan, prepare, and research tailored learning sessions and courses
  • Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date learning materials
  • Assess students\’ performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Invigilate and support examinations, ensuring compliance with awarding bodies (e.g., BINDT)
  • Maintain student records and provide feedback on training outcomes
  • Collaborate with internal specialists, examiners, and Level 3 consultants
  • Master and maintain examination specimens for training and assessment purposes
  • Engage in continuous professional development and cross-training opportunities
  • Mark examination papers if certified at Level 3
  • Represent the company professionally with both internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum PCN Level 2 certifications in Phased Array UT (PAUT) and Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)
  • At least 5 years of industrial NDT experience
  • Certified in all NDT methods taught
  • Good proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Skills and Attributes

  • Additional Level 2 certifications in Ultrasonic Testing and Surface Methods
  • Previous experience in an NDT training environment (training will be provided if not)
  • Ability to effectively manage and respond to challenging student questions
  • Excellent written skills and a proactive attitude toward improving training materials
  • Willingness to pursue PCN Level 3 certification and cross-train into other NDT methods and schemes (e.g., ASNT)
  • Strong organisational skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset
