The Aviation Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Technician Level 2 is responsible for carrying out day-to-day non-destructive testing inspections on aircraft and aircraft components in accordance with Applus UK approvals. The role involves performing inspections using customer, supplier, and OEM inspection data to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality inspection services both in-house and at domestic and international customer locations. The technician is expected to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and customer service while supporting Applus+ core values.
Responsibilities:
- Perform NDT inspections on customer aircraft and components in accordance with approved documentation, customer work instructions, and agreed priorities.
- Conduct contract reviews before progressing work orders.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Quality, Technical, and regulatory procedures.
- Perform calibration, control, maintenance, and recording of inspection instruments under their responsibility.
- Certify completed work in accordance with customer purchase order requirements.
- Complete accurate job packs, technical records, timesheets, and invoicing documentation.
- Provide customers with required inspection documentation, including Form 1 release documentation for EASA, CAA, or FAA where applicable, and Applus NDT test reports.
- Deliver high-quality inspection services that promote customer confidence and satisfaction.
- Support inspection activities at customer sites both domestically and internationally.
- Be available for reasonable overseas travel to support customer requirements.
- Participate in weekend on-call rotations as required.
- Report significant operational issues to the Aviation Team Leader or Aviation Operations Manager.
- Stop or interrupt work whenever aviation safety or personnel safety may be compromised.
- Comply with company procedures relating to safety, quality, information security, and regulatory requirements.
- Report information security issues, vulnerabilities, threats, incidents, or breaches through the company reporting system.
- Report hazards, fatigue, safety concerns, and operational risks using company occurrence reporting procedures.
- Participate in initial and recurrent training, company briefings, meetings, emergency response plans, and promotional activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
- Take ownership of assigned equipment, legal compliance, safety, and operational responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- Hold at least one Level 2 approval in Eddy Current Testing (ET), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or Radiographic Testing (RT) certified in accordance with EN4179/NAS410 or other standards accepted by the applicable National Aviation Authority.
- Minimum of 12 months of practical experience as a Level 2 NDT Technician in maintenance.
- Understanding of Foreign Object Damage (FOD), product safety, Counterfeit, Fraudulent, Suspect Items (CFSI), and fraudulent activity.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of aeronautical experience within a Part 145 aviation maintenance environment.
- Additional EN4179/NAS410 approvals in Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, or Radiographic Testing.
- EN4179/NAS410 approvals in Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), or Thermography.
- Current or previous NDT certifications in additional methods.
- Evidence of relevant work experience within the previous five years.
- Knowledge of NADCAP, ISO 9001, and AS9100 standards.
- IOSHH or other recognized Health and Safety training.
- Radiation safety experience.
- Current aviation regulatory training, including Human Factors, Safety Management Systems, Fuel Tank Safety, and Aviation Legislation.
- Training in cybersecurity and information security principles.
