Who should apply? We are looking for a committed Christian who is able to lead people in the outdoors. We are seeking an Outdoor Instructor who can deliver a safe, exciting and meaningful adventure programme in line with our mission. You will have worked in the outdoor adventure sector and will be passionate about the connection between outdoor learning and the journey of the Christian faith.
The role – key tasks:
- Participate in the outdoor activity programme by instructing as directed.
- Ensure that appropriate safety precautions are adhered to.
- Assist with the maintenance of the outdoor education equipment.
- Ensure that evidence of current experience and competence in outdoor activities is recorded in an up-to-date logbook.
- Take part in training as required, ensuring that the appropriate standards are upheld.
- Communicate with the Chief Instructor or OD as and when problems arise.
- Take part in our Christian programme, attending team meetings and devotional times, helping host events, serving our guests and being an Ambassador for Abernethy.
What experience and qualities are we looking for?
Essential:
- Minimum qualifications: RCI, ML(Summer), Canoe Leader, MBLA2, D1, First Aid, Duke of Edinburgh Assessor. You do not need to have all of these, but a combination of several will be expected.
- Have a mature and growing Christian faith.
- Be a positive Christian role model for both guests and staff.
- Have a heart for service, evangelism and Christian discipleship.
- Have a warm, friendly and collaborative approach.
- Able to problem-solve and think creatively.
