At Maranatha Christian School we are seeking to build a Christ‑centred school that forms young people in wisdom and character as well as academic excellence. If you are called to shape a culture, disciple young people and help craft something beautiful for the next generation, then MCS may be for you. Where staff and pupils genuinely know and care for one another. A place in which faith is lived out daily, and where our small-school allows us to build something truly special and Kingdom centred.

We are looking for a vision‑driven Christian leader who thrives in shaping culture, developing people, and building an excellent KS3–KS4 provision grounded in biblical truth and high academic standards. We welcome applicants from a range of secondary subject backgrounds, and the ability to contribute to English, including GCSE English, would be an advantage. Your leadership will influence how young people encounter Scripture, truth, and Jesus as they grow into confident and compassionate adults. This is a rare opportunity to help craft the future of a growing independent Christian school. Rather than fitting into a rigid system you will have space to shape a learning environment and to prepare children for the world ahead.

Why Maranatha?

  • A warm, relational Christian community where faith is central to school life.
  • Small class sizes that allow genuine pastoral care and tailored teaching.
  • A committed staff team passionate about discipleship and academic excellence.
  • A calm and purposeful atmosphere, with positive pupil behaviour that supports learning.
  • A school with space for you to bring your ideas, build a curriculum, and influence a whole‑school culture.
  • Supportive leadership and trustees who value innovation, prayerful decision‑making, and long‑term school growth.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong and active Christian faith.
  • Has successful secondary teaching experience at KS3/KS4; the ability to teach GCSE English would be an advantage.
  • Can lead staff, strengthen teaching and learning, and shape curriculum.
  • Has strong behaviour management and pastoral instincts.
  • Is flexible and able to thrive in a small‑school context.

In this role you will:

  • Help in the logistics of our secondary teaching and learning.
  • Oversee curriculum, assessment and standards.
  • Teach within the secondary phase, with the ability to contribute to English, including GCSE English, welcomed.
  • Line‑manage secondary teachers, TAs and volunteers.
  • Be in a daily walk with students to help them understand who they are in Jesus and who they have been created to be as individuals.

This post has an Occupational Requirement, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, for the postholder to be a practising Christian who is able to fully support, uphold and model the Christian ethos of Maranatha Christian School. Given the evolving needs of our growing school, the successful candidate will be expected to show flexibility regarding reasonable adjustments to the role as the school develops.

How to apply: Email reception@maranathaschool.org or call 01793 762075.

Safer Recruitment: All appointments subject to enhanced DBS and full checks.
