We’re looking for a highly curious, product-obsessed individual to join our Product Development team and help drive the discovery, development, and launch of new products across our global portfolio of consumer goods, predominantly small domestic appliances. This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, commercially aware, and naturally inquisitive. Someone who enjoys digging into data, understanding why customers behave the way they do, and spotting opportunities others miss. You’ll combine structured thinking with creativity, learning how to turn insight into real, sellable products. You’ll work closely with the Product Development team to identify new product opportunities, analyse market gaps, support specification development, and coordinate with our sourcing team in China to bring products to life. This is not a passive or purely supportive role. You’ll be expected to get into the detail quickly: analysing reviews, studying competitors, tracking trends, and building clear, structured product briefs. It’s a hands-on role with a steep learning curve and real exposure to how products are built and scaled in a fast-moving e-commerce business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Opportunity Identification & Research: Conduct structured research across categories to identify trends, patterns, and emerging customer needs. Conduct market insight and analysis to highlight gaps and opportunities. Support opportunity evaluation by gathering insights and contributing to internal scoring frameworks. Monitor marketplaces and channels to understand what is selling, what is changing, and where demand is moving.
- Product Specification & Development Support: Support the translation of product ideas into clear concepts and structured specifications. Help define feature sets, product improvements, and pricing targets aligned to customer expectations and margin requirements. Work with the China-based sourcing team to communicate product requirements and track development progress. Assist with sample reviews and testing, documenting feedback and highlighting issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Purchasing, QA, Design, Marketing, Trading, and Operations to support product development from idea through to launch. Ensure product information is clearly documented and shared across teams. Support the creation of key launch materials including basic spec sheets, image briefs, and product positioning inputs.
- Product Performance & Lifecycle Tracking: Support post-launch analysis by gathering data on reviews, returns, sales, and performance. Identify patterns in customer feedback and help suggest improvements or product iterations. Help maintain visibility of active development projects and future opportunities.
Ideal Candidate:
- 2 years’ experience in a product development, buying, merchandising, e-commerce, or analytical role, or a strong relevant internship background.
- Highly curious with a genuine interest in consumer products, trends, and customer behaviour.
- Analytical mindset, comfortable working with data, spotting patterns, and forming structured insights.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organise information clearly and logically.
- Commercially aware, with an interest in how products make money and succeed in the market.
- Confident communicator, able to work across teams and build relationships early in your career.
- Proactive and self-motivated, willing to take ownership of tasks and follow them through.
- Excited by a fast-paced environment where you are expected to learn quickly and contribute from day one.
- Positive, hands-on attitude, willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in wherever needed.
