We are looking for a hands-on Industrial Designer to lead the physical design and development of home appliance products across the One Retail Group portfolio, with an initial focus on the categories already in range, including air treatment. This is a delivery role first. You will be expected to use our CAD tools from day one and take products from early concept through CAD, prototyping, supplier development and pre-production review.

Within Product Development (PD), you will be working closely alongside China teams and suppliers to create products that are commercially viable, manufacturable and aligned to the brief. Alongside hands-on design delivery, you will be expected to think at range level rather than in isolation. You will scope the opportunity, help shape the plan for a product range, then work through the detailed execution product by product. As constraints emerge, you will need to adapt quickly and make good decisions around time, spec, cost and feasibility.

You will own physical product design, lead the product user experience alongside PD and China teams, and collaborate with the wider design team on CMF and look and feel. Over time, the role may also support adjacent categories as the portfolio expands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Design & Delivery: Lead the industrial design of home appliance products already within the range, translating briefs into clear product directions, concepts, CAD models and production-ready design outputs. Design and develop products hands-on from concept through detailed CAD, prototype definition, sample review and pre-production refinement, ensuring the product remains achievable within target cost, timing and specification.
  • Range Planning & Delivery Agility: Assess the opportunity at range level, help define the plan for the line-up, and then execute individual products within that plan with a clear understanding of customer need, competitive context and commercial priorities. Work through design challenges product by product, identifying blockers early and adapting direction where needed to keep projects moving within feasibility, lead time and cost constraints.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & User Experience: Own the physical product design while working closely with PD and China teams to improve usability, ergonomics and the overall product experience.
  • Supplier Collaboration, CMF & Industrialisation: Work closely with suppliers to bring concepts to life, managing design iterations, reviewing samples and resolving development issues so the final product stays aligned to the brief. Collaborate with the design team on CMF strategy and overall look and feel, while working pragmatically through engineering, DFM and manufacturing constraints without losing the core design intent.
Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years’ experience in industrial design within home appliances, consumer products, electronics or similar product-led industries.
  • Proven ability to design and develop mass-produced physical products from concept through to supplier-ready execution.
  • Highly skilled in CAD modelling and confident picking up and using company CAD tools from day one.
  • Strong ability to sketch, model, visualise and communicate design intent clearly to internal teams and suppliers.
  • Experience working through prototypes, samples and iterative design changes during development.
  • Strong understanding of materials, finishes, manufacturing processes and tooling constraints for consumer products.
  • Comfortable balancing design quality with cost targets, specification requirements and project timelines.
  • Able to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with Product Development, China teams, suppliers and wider stakeholders.
  • Good judgment on usability, ergonomics and physical product interaction, with the ability to turn feedback into practical design improvements.
  • Commercially aware and able to think at range level, not just individual product execution.
  • Proactive, adaptable and comfortable making progress in a fast-paced environment where blockers, barriers and trade-offs need to be worked through quickly.
