Role Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Business Systems & Data Lead to drive a critical turnaround of our data and system landscape. Your immediate priority will be to personally own and execute the replacement of our core ERP integration and migrate our Business Central platform to a clean, stable, and scalable database.

You will be the bridge between business needs and technical execution. You’ll partner closely with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to map processes, assess requirements, and translate them into practical, sustainable solutions that connect our core platforms (Business Central, Microsoft Fabric) into a cohesive whole.

Following this stabilisation, you will take full ownership of the entire flow of data, from integrations to our Fabric data warehouse and Power BI, ensuring our leaders have accurate, real‑time insights to make confident decisions.

This is a high‑impact, \"player-coach\" role for a resilient operator. You will be the single point of accountability for all business systems and data, blending hands‑on technical delivery with strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

(These are prioritised to reflect the immediate needs of the business)

1. ERP Turnaround & Systems Project Leadership

  • Act as the single point of accountability for the successful stabilisation and optimisation of our Business Central environment.
  • Personally own and manage the end‑to‑end project to select, implement, and cut over to a new, stable e‑commerce integration.
  • Lead the technical migration to a new, clean BC database, managing all external partners and internal stakeholders (especially Finance at our London HQ) to ensure a successful, on‑time delivery.
  • Map existing business processes (Finance, Operations, Supply Chain) to design new, scalable system workflows for the new environment.
  • Deliver robust integrations and connectivity between Business Central, marketplaces, 3PLs, and other operational systems, decommissioning legacy solutions.

2. Data Platform Management & Business Intelligence

  • Own and manage the Microsoft Fabric data warehouse as the company\'s single source of truth for all analytics.
  • Design, build, and maintain a robust, scalable data model in Fabric that serves all business functions.
  • Develop and maintain critical business‑wide dashboards and KPI reporting in Power BI.
  • Service ad‑hoc data analysis and insight projects from commercial, operational, and finance teams.
  • Translate raw data into actionable insights and commercial recommendations for senior leadership.

3. Governance, Collaboration & Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the existing data team members, and build out the function\'s capabilities, including the future recruitment, onboarding, and management of new analysts.
  • Manage all external tech vendors and partners (BC Support, freelancers), enforcing accountability, high standards, and cost‑discipline.
  • Define and maintain pragmatic architectural standards, documentation, and system governance, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Partner with department heads (Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial) as the subject matter expert for the data stack, understanding their needs and delivering solutions.
  • Confidently push back on requests or workarounds that compromise system integrity, scalability, or the single source of truth.
  • Stay current with new tools and developments, including AI, that can improve business processes and data analysis.

Ideal Candidate

Must-Have Experience & Skills

  • ERP Project Delivery: Proven track record of personally managing a complex ERP implementation, integration project, or data migration end‑to‑end.
  • Business Central Expertise: Deep, hands‑on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Business Central (both functional and data structure). You must be able to confidently direct and challenge our external BC partner.
  • Microsoft Data Stack: Strong technical skills in the modern Microsoft data stack: Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and SQL are essential.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Advanced SQL is mandatory. Python skills are highly desirable.
  • Integration Management: Experience building and managing e‑commerce integrations (APIs, connectors, or iPaaS).
  • Data Architecture: Strong familiarity with ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and data orchestration.

About You (Personal Attributes)

  • A \"Fixer\" Mentality: You are a pragmatic, resilient, and high‑ownership operator who thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment where not everything is fully defined.
  • \"Player-Coach\" Leadership: You are equally comfortable writing SQL and building a data model as you are presenting a data strategy to the leadership team.
  • Excellent Communicator: You can translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical audiences and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Commercially Sharp: You instinctively connect technical projects back to business ROI, balancing robustness with speed and cost‑effectiveness.
  • A Natural Problem‑Solver: You take ownership, spot opportunities, and drive improvements proactively.
  • Experience (Preferred): A background in a stock‑heavy, multi‑channel e‑commerce or retail business is a significant advantage.
