Position: Plater Location: Grimsby Salary: £20.13 per hour with highly competitive multiple overtime rates available daily and all day at the weekends Shift: Onsite – Monday to Friday / Offsite – 12 days on and 2 days off Role Overview This is a rare opportunity to advance your career with a top-tier, solid-brand employer in a permanent position. This role will be based in Grimsby at the company’s original main facility. Responsibilities * Interpret complex technical and engineering drawings to mark out and shape metal plates with precision. * Cut, form, and assemble heavy steel components to meet project specifications. * Use manual and powered equipment such as guillotines, rollers, oxy-fuel cutters, and plasma cutting tools. * Align, tack, and weld components together prior to assembly, ensuring structural integrity. * Conduct thorough quality checks on fabricated components to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards. * Travel to client sites as required (fully expensed, with paid travel time). * Identify material or design issues and communicate effectively with supervisors or engineers. Requirements * Proven experience: 2+ years working as a plater in a heavy steel or engineering environment. * Technical skills: Skilled at marking out, cutting, and forming thick steel plate (10mm+). * Certification: National Vocational Qualification in Engineering or equivalent City & Guilds, HNC/HND. * Drawing interpretation: Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, including isometric and engineering layouts. * Advantageous: Experience with pressure vessels, tanks, or large fabrication projects.
