This is an exciting opportunity to join One Manchester as its Director of Assets and Sustainability. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will lead the asset management, capital investment, and sustainability functions to deliver strategic priorities and long-term value. You will be responsible for shaping and implementing asset and investment strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving improvements in customer outcomes and asset performance.

This is a key role for One Manchester as they continue to invest in their homes, enhance sustainability, and ensure the organisation is fit for the future.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deliver the organisation’s Asset Management and Sustainability Strategy, aligned to the Corporate Plan and long-term business objectives.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of large-scale capital investment programmes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
  • Oversee asset performance, ensuring compliance with Decent Homes Standard and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Drive data-led investment decisions using stock condition, performance, and environmental data.
  • Lead the development and delivery of sustainability initiatives, including retrofit, carbon reduction, and environmental performance improvements.
  • Provide strategic assurance to the Executive Team and Board on asset performance, risks, and long-term stock viability.
  • Ensure robust procurement, contract management, and supply chain performance to deliver value for money.
  • Collaborate with Finance to model long-term investment plans and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Oversee facilities management and fleet operations to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams, embedding a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Advise senior stakeholders and contribute to organisational strategy, ensuring alignment across functions.
  • Promote a culture of trust, collaboration, and inclusivity across teams.

One Manchester is looking to appoint a senior leader who has the following attributes:

  • Extensive experience leading asset management and capital investment functions within a regulated housing or property environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale capital programmes within financial and regulatory constraints.
  • Strong understanding of asset appraisal, long-term investment planning, and financial modelling.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards relating to asset condition, decency, and sustainability.
  • Experience of working at senior leadership level, providing insight and assurance to Boards and Committees.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including procurement and contract management expertise.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional leadership and influencing skills, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Professional qualification in construction, surveying, asset management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
