Our Client, a full service, multi office law firm, highly ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, is looking to strengthen its litigation offering with the appointment of an associate in Central London.

The firm specialises in high-value and complex commercial litigation, with a track record of success helping it to become the UK’s leading disputes law firm. It is renowned for its innovative approach to complex disputes and persistent focus on achieving the best results for its clients.

The International Arbitration team is staffed exclusively by genuine specialists in the practice area, conducting a mix of commercial arbitration, arbitration-related English Court litigation and investment treaty work. The Partner and senior members of the team all developed their practices at leading US and ‘Magic Circle’ firms before joining to contribute to our clients' growth and successes.

The department significantly punches above its weight and is looking for candidates who share the team’s passion in its field and who actively wish to play their part in the continued growth.

The Candidate

Candidates should be qualified in English law and have a strong grasp of the legal issues which typically arise in arbitration matters concerning claims in contract, tort, and equity. Experience in commercial arbitration matters is required; experience in investor-state arbitration matters is not a requirement but would be viewed positively. Additional language skills or legal qualifications are likely to be seen as an advantage.

The ideal candidate for this role will be between 3 and 4 PQE, but consideration will be given to exceptional candidates falling just outside this level. The right individual will have strong academics and come from a firm of equal status and calibre. The candidate needs to have initiative and confidence but also strong teamwork skills, be well organised and have first-rate communication skills both in writing and verbally. Any experience in the department’s current core areas of focus, including Africa/Middle East disputes, and energy/O&G work, will be welcomed.
