Our client is a rapidly growing boutique law firm advising companies operating at the intersection of the built environment, technology and people. They are focused on growing a complex construction practice where they already enjoy a leading reputation in the technology infrastructure and sports sectors. They are now actively seeking a non-contentious construction and engineering partner with a strong track record in the digital infrastructure and telecommunications sector.

You will be working alongside the managing partner, who is the world’s leading construction lawyer in this niche, and who is keen to find the right person to share the firm’s practice in this dynamic and burgeoning sector.

The Role

This is a very exciting time to join a unique firm and play a pivotal role in its global growth and development. Indeed, for the right entrepreneurial candidate, you will enjoy the freedom to build a leading practice. You will take on responsibility for providing exceptional, commercial and creative construction and engineering advice to the firm’s existing global client base. These include some of the world’s largest data centre providers. The team are currently working on live projects in the UK and globally, including Europe, Asia and the United States. You will be expected to contribute to the financial and reputational growth of the firm’s construction and engineering practice and will be given full support from our clients marketing director to achieve this.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be someone both knowledgeable and passionate about the future opportunities in the digital infrastructure sector. You will be self-motivated with the ability to operate independently or as part of a team. By way of career background, you should have:

  • A track record in the digital infrastructure and telecommunications sector, and a passion for this type of work.
  • Experience of 7+ years PQE with at least 3 years at a top 50 UK firm, or smaller firm ranked in Legal 500/Chambers for construction and engineering.
  • Currently or recently in private practice as senior associate, of counsel, director, partner or equivalent, with capacity to take on an existing client base.
  • Experienced in some or all of the following in the last 2 years; JCT contracts; NEC4 contracts; FIDIC contracts; Development agreements; and EPC contracts.
  • Demonstrable track record in business development, excellent client, matter, financial and people management.
  • A commercial, entrepreneurial outlook to the delivery of legal advice using cutting-edge technology, flexible virtual teams and excellent client relationships.
  • Able to operate effectively across international jurisdictions.
