Location: Hatfield. Remuneration: £32,880 per annum. Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, internal rotation across Mon‑Sun night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure comfort and safety of patients during admission.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adhere to hospital policies, national guidelines, and best practice standards.
  • Provide pre‑ and post‑operation care, assessing needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating care plans.
  • Establish rapport and provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families/carers.
  • Offer healthcare advice, educate patients/families on conditions, medications, self‑care, and health maintenance, and answer questions.
  • Carry out clinical nursing procedures, including medication administration, injections, intravenous infusions, and catheterisation.
  • Record and maintain accurate patient medical records, histories, care pathways, and clinical forms in IT systems.
  • Develop customised care plans in collaboration with other departments.
  • Plan safe discharges to various locations.
  • Participate in audit processes to monitor nursing quality.
  • Assist in establishing and monitoring care pathways, measuring health outcomes, and recommending adjustments.
  • Report incidents and complaints through the Sentinel reporting module and, if unresolved, raise them to senior staff.
  • Monitor and record Early Warning Scores, escalating appropriately as per policy.
  • Perform comprehensive handover of patients between shifts, departments, multidisciplinary teams, and external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with NMC registration.

Experience

  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a ward environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of clinical practice, including phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics.

Skills

  • Strong written, numerical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills using MS Office Suite and web‑based reporting systems.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business needs.
  • Experience in the private sector.
