The predicted salary is between 30414 - 36989 £ per year.

Equivalent to mid band 5 NHS AfC pro rata. Location: Hatfield. Working week/hrs: 34.5 hours per week. Job reference: HAT/POA/0626. Days off: 33 days inclusive of bank holidays pro rata. Closing date: 05-Jul-26.

One Hatfield Hospital, part of Phoenix Hospital Group, is looking for an experienced pre‑assessment nurse to join their team on a part‑time basis.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred pre‑assessment care to support safe and effective surgical pathways.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care in line with clinical policies and protocols.
  • Undertake clinical procedures such as phlebotomy and medication training.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation.
  • Provide health education and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Work autonomously while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate assessments, investigations and discharge planning.
  • Support the implementation of service protocols in line with nationally accredited guidelines and evidence‑based practice.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse with the NMC.
Experience:
  • Clinical nursing experience in acute surgical care and preferably experience in pre‑assessment clinics.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team.
Skills:
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills and competency of required clinical practice.
  • Phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs and intravenous antibiotics would be an advantage.
  • Comprehensive written, numerical and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in computer skills using MS Office Suite and web‑based reporting systems.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding principles and policies, with the ability to act appropriately to protect vulnerable individuals.
  • Enthusiasm for cross‑functional working within clinical departments as reasonably required.
  • Experience in the private sector.
  • Experience in pre‑assessment clinics.
