One Hatfield Hospital, part of Phoenix Hospital Group, has an excellent opportunity for a reliable and practical Maintenance Assistant to join our maintenance team on a FlexiBank arrangement.
Reporting to the Hospital Engineer & Operations Manager, the successful Maintenance Assistant will carry out first‑line maintenance tasks, basic repairs, and safety checks across the hospital site. They will also work closely with colleagues and contractors to ensure a safe, clean and well‑maintained environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the maintenance team with routine maintenance of hospital buildings and services.
- Carrying out first‑line repairs and basic maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and decorating.
- Identifying hazards, making areas safe, and escalating issues where required.
- Assisting with statutory maintenance tasks, plant checks, fire alarm testing, and lighting maintenance.
- Assembling furniture, installing equipment, and supporting contractor activity as directed.
- Working in line with Health & Safety legislation, COSHH, infection control, and safe systems of work.
About You:
- Experience in general building maintenance, facilities support, or handyman/DIY work.
- Practical, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional, friendly approach and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Knowledge of PPM schedules.
- Experience in a healthcare or similar environment.
