We’re looking for a dedicated
Patient Assistant to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.
You’ll play a key role in supporting both patients and the clinical team by providing administrative, and operational support.
From managing patient registrations and appointment bookings to assisting clinicians and maintaining an efficient reception service, your role will be crucial in ensuring patients have a smooth and positive experience with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage new patient registrations, process repeat prescription requests, and handle administrative tasks on EMIS Web, including medical records, tasks, emails, and patient correspondence.
- Send appointment reminders and cancellations to reduce missed appointments (DNAs).
- Provide a professional and welcoming reception service, ensuring the reception area is clean and ready for patient arrivals.
- Answer calls promptly, take messages, and book or cancel appointments, liaising with the clinical team to manage patient flow.
- Assist in the coordination of clinical sessions, ensuring accurate record-keeping and smooth patient management.
- Oversee the signing in/out process for equipment and maintain accurate records for laptops, parking permits, and other resources.
- Open and secure the premises, ensuring readiness for patient care and compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Ensure clinician rooms are tidy and well-stocked with necessary equipment, and report any maintenance issues.
Requirements
- Experience a receptionist/ administrator within NHS General Practice
- 1+ year experience of using the Emis Web clinical system
- Experience receiving and making calls to patients and healthcare professionals
- Organisational skills, ability to prioritise and manage day.
- Available to work multiple shift patterns on rota basis
