REGISTERED NURSE - PRE-ASSESSMENT
One Ashford Hospital, Kent has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our friendly and dynamic Pre‑Assessment team.
Reporting to the Theatre Manager, the successful Registered Nurse will be required to provide the highest standard of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team across pre‑assessment and wider outpatient services. As our Pre‑assessment Nurse you will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care by assessing individual needs and planning safe surgical pathways.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre‑assessment care, assessing the needs of the patient, planning, implementing and evaluating pathways of care to facilitate safe surgical journey for the patient
- Conduct clinical procedures (e.g., phlebotomy, medication training)
- Maintain accurate medical records, and provide health education and emotional support to patients and their families
- Close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate assessments, investigations, and discharge planning
- Works as an autonomous practitioner with specialist skills, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care within policies and protocols to facilitate safe surgical journey for the patient
- Support the Pre‑assessment team and the Outpatient Manager with implementation of service protocols on nationally accredited guidelines and valid research from recognised bodies
HOURS
Mon to Fri, shifts between 07:30 and 20:30. Occasional requirement to work Saturdays.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse with NMC
EXPERIENCE
- Clinical nursing experience in acute surgical care and preferably experience in pre‑assessment clinics
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team
SKILLS
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills and competency of required clinical practice
- Phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics would be an advantage
- Comprehensive written, numerical and verbal communication skills
- Experience in computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
- Excellent customer service skills
- A sound understanding of safeguarding principles and policies, with the ability to act appropriately to protect vulnerable individuals
DESIRABLES
- Enthusiasm for cross functional working within clinical departments as reasonably required
- Experience in the private sector
- Experience in pre‑assessment clinics
