One Ashford Hospital has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Ward Registered Nurse to join their friendly and dynamic ward team.
Work Hours: Internal rotation across Mon‑Sun.
Main Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide pre and post operation care, assessing the needs of the patient, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.
- Identify patient care requirements by establishing a rapport, providing emotional and psychological support to the patient as well as to their family/carer.
- Provide healthcare advice, educating patients/family/carers on the condition, medications, self‑care and health maintenance, answering any questions they may have.
- Carry out clinical nursing procedures, including administering medication, injections, intravenous infusions, and male and female catheterisation.
- Record and maintain accurate patient medical records and histories on the relevant care pathways, clinical forms and IT systems.
- Create customised care plans through working collaboratively with other departments.
- Effective and safe discharge planning to various locations.
- Participate in audit processes for monitoring nursing quality.
- Assist with establishing and monitoring care pathways, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments.
- Report incidents and complaints via the Sentinel reporting module and escalating appropriately to senior staff if unable to resolve.
- Accurate monitoring and recording of Early Warning Score and escalating appropriately as per policy.
- Maintain and practice comprehensive handover of patients between shifts, departments and multidisciplinary team including external agencies.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with NMC.
Experience:
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team.
- Experience in a ward environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills and competency of required clinical practice: phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics.
Skills:
- Comprehensive written, numerical and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business.
- Customer service skills.
