One Ashford Hospital, part of Phoenix Hospital Group, are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Theatre Practitioner to join our Theatre team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated practitioner to work within a busy operating department delivering high standards of perioperative care across a range of surgical specialities. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide safe, effective and patient-focused care throughout the surgical pathway, ensuring excellent clinical outcomes and a positive patient experience. Reporting to the Theatre Manager, the successful theatre practitioner will deliver a high standard of perioperative care to patients and assist with the smooth running of daily activity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work as Scrub, Circulating or Recovery Practitioner as required
- Ensure WHO safety checks, infection prevention standards, and documentation requirements are fully completed
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during procedures as appropriate
- Prepare theatre equipment, instruments and consumables for surgery
- Maintain theatre cleanliness, stock levels and readiness
- Participate in clinical governance, audits and service improvement activities
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
- Participate in the departmental on-call rota
- Work Saturdays when required to meet service needs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse with NMC or Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC
EXPERIENCE
- Clinical nursing experience in a theatre setting
- Anaesthetic, Scrub or Recovery experience
SKILLS
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in the practitioners area of clinical practice
- Sound written, numerical and verbal communication skills
- Sound computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
- Demonstrable Customer Service skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
