We are seeking an experienced and motivated Outpatient Manager to lead the outpatient department. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse and clinical leader to shape and develop outpatient services within a well‑established independent hospital environment. You will provide strong clinical, operational and professional leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high‑quality patient care while supporting the continued development of the service.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, the successful Outpatient Manager will play a key role in ensuring clinics operate efficiently, patients receive an excellent experience throughout their journey, and teams are supported to deliver the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical and operational leadership for the outpatient department.
- Ensure outpatient clinics run efficiently and effectively, supporting both patient experience and consultant requirements throughout the patient pathway.
- Maintain high standards of patient care, safety and clinical governance across all outpatient services.
- Lead the minor operations pathway, ensuring services are delivered safely and efficiently across a range of specialties.
- Support and develop a team of qualified and non‑qualified staff, including mentoring, supervision and professional development.
- Ensure clinical governance, audit, risk management and quality improvement processes are embedded within everyday practice.
- Monitor and maintain staff competencies and ensure safe use of clinical equipment.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention, medicines management and COSHH standards.
- Manage departmental resources effectively, including stock control and financial awareness, ensuring services operate within agreed budgets.
- Review patient experience feedback and complaints, identifying opportunities for service improvement and innovation.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Significant outpatient or ambulatory care experience.
- Experience of clinical governance, audit and quality improvement.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of infection control, COSHH and medicines management.
- Through understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- ILS / ALS / PILS certification (or willingness to obtain).
- IT literate.
