Responsibilities
- Planned & Reactive Maintenance: Carry out routine inspections, servicing, and repairs. Respond to urgent faults to minimise downtime and safety risks.
- Building Fabric & Infrastructure: Maintain doors, windows, flooring, fixtures, and general building fabric. Support minor carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical tasks within competency.
- Equipment & Asset Care: Ensure tools, machinery, and site equipment are kept in safe working condition. Report defects and update maintenance logs.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all site-specific H&S procedures and statutory requirements. Conduct basic risk assessments and ensure safe working practices. Maintain clean, hazard‑free work areas.
- Site Support & Operations: Assist with setting up rooms, moving equipment, and supporting operational teams. Liaise with supervisors, contractors, and site managers to coordinate work.
- Record Keeping & Reporting: Complete job sheets, maintenance records, and compliance documentation. Report issues promptly and escalate where required.
- Project & Improvement Work: Support small works, refurbishments, and improvement projects. Provide input on materials, pricing, and planning where relevant. Assessing requirements, estimating materials and labour for customer jobs. Prepare quotes for maintenance tasks and small projects.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building or facilities maintenance.
- Competence in basic electrical, plumbing, and building‑fabric repairs.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Ability to complete maintenance records, job sheets, and compliance documentation accurately.
- Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
- Full UK driving licence (Max 3 points).
- Experience supporting small works, refurbishments, or project-based tasks.
- Knowledge of pricing, materials, and basic estimating.
- Experience working in commercial, industrial, or local‑authority environments.
- Familiarity with maintenance software, asset logs, or CAFM systems.
