Strategic technical lead role within a people-first consultancy

Are you a seasoned sustainability professional ready to lead the charge in bringing high-performance, net-zero buildings to life?

We are working with a friendly, people-first engineering consultancy in Nottingham where staff retention is incredibly high and the culture is built on mutual support.

They are seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to take a key role in their expanding team. In this position, you will move beyond standard reporting to act as a primary advisor to clients, solving complex environmental challenges and delivering innovative, tailored solutions for both public and private sector developments.

The Senior Sustainability Consultant will:

  • Lead the delivery of expert sustainability design advice, technical reports, and overarching environmental strategies.
  • Manage and oversee BREEAM assessments from inception to certification, ensuring high-quality submissions.
  • Direct Low Zero Carbon (LZC) feasibility studies and complex passive design analysis.
  • Take technical ownership of embodied carbon modelling and reporting using One Click LCA.
  • Manage a diverse project portfolio, overseeing new builds and refurbishments through the entire lifecycle.
  • Champion specialist areas such as embodied carbon and circular economy.
  • Collaborate at a senior level with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to integrate sustainable methodologies into every design.
  • Mentor and support the development of Graduate and Junior Sustainability Consultants within the Nottingham office.

We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Consultant with:

  • A Degree or MSc in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant proven experience within a UK based sustainability or engineering consultancy.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of BREEAM (ideally as a qualified Assessor) and proficiency with One Click LCA.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects to tight timescales.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to influence client design decisions.
  • A commitment to staying at the forefront of net-zero carbon trends and building regulations.
