Are you an experienced Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience, ready to lead high-profile residential developments? A leading, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Civil and Structural Engineering team. This role is specifically designed for a technical expert who thrives in the residential sector, managing the engineering challenges associated with large-scale housing developments. You will transition from supporting projects to taking full technical and commercial ownership, working within a consultancy that values engineering precision and personal development over all else.
As the successful Civil Engineer, you will:
- Lead the design and management of infrastructure for major housing schemes, ensuring all civil elements are optimised for both adoptability and construction efficiency;
- Take full accountability for the design of estate roads and drainage systems (Section 38, 104, and 278 agreements);
- Produce and oversee complex designs for sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), foul water networks, and earthworks modelling;
- Lead the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to support planning applications and discharge conditions;
- Act as the primary technical contact for developers, local authorities, and water companies to secure technical approvals;
- Control project timelines and budgets, ensuring high quality delivery for some of the UK’s most prominent housebuilders;
- Provide technical guidance and quality control for junior engineers and technicians within the civil design team.
We are looking for a Civil Engineer with:
- 4 - 10 years experience within a UK based civil engineering consultancy;
- A proven track record in residential infrastructure design and a deep understanding of the housebuilding industry;
- High proficiency in industry standard software, specifically Civil 3D and/or Causeway Flow;
- Thorough understanding of the latest Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Sewers for Adoption, and local authority design guides;
- Ideally, but not essential to be Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) with the ICE.
In return, the successful Civil Engineer will receive a highly competitive package of:
- £40,000 - £60,000;
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + long service leave;
- Pension scheme and free pension advice;
- Paid professional memberships and support for chartership;
- Discounts on large retailers and a free wellness hub;
- Employee assistance program and counselling sessions;
- Life assurance 3x salary;
- Interest free travel card loans;
- Enhanced maternity and paternity leave;
- Hybrid working - 3 days in the office (St Albans).
