At One Fylde we like to view our Support Workers more as "life coaches"—providing guidance to the people we support, as well as having the tools and knowledge to handle bills, support self-esteem, act as an agony aunt, a chef when helping with cooking, and a tour guide when travelling abroad!

Our focus is to support people to live as independently as possible, maintain their home environment, and manage their health, finances, social activities, hobbies, and interests. This could include supporting someone to manage their weekly shop, visit friends and family, or even go on holiday.

Not every day is the same in supported living. You need to be adaptable to the people you are supporting and punctual with your time management. Most of our support involves helping individuals access the community, whether it’s swimming, going to the cinema, golf, or Slimming World.

Are you compassionate and patient? Do you have strong communication skills and love working with people? Can you work flexibly, including evenings and weekends? Are you a team player?

For those who haven't done support work before, full training will be provided. We offer extensive training opportunities in a charity that encourages personal development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a quality service
  • Ensuring a safe, appropriate, and comfortable living environment for the people we support
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including families and social services
  • Following support plans and health and safety requirements
  • Advocating for the rights and needs of the people we support
