The Role
We’re looking for a WordPress Developer / Creative Site Builder to help turn ideas, designs and strategy into high-quality digital experiences. This role sits at the intersection of design, development and digital marketing, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants to broaden their skillset. You’ll primarily be responsible for building and maintaining WordPress websites, but you’ll also have opportunities to support basic application development, integrations and digital marketing activity as the business grows. Experience in all areas is not essential - training and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Website Build & Delivery
- Build, maintain and improve WordPress websites using custom themes and page builders (e.g. WPBakery, Elementor)
- Translate design concepts into responsive, pixel-accurate builds
- Implement structured content using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
- Support WooCommerce, MemberPress and other plugin-based functionality
- Performance, Quality & Optimisation
- Ensure websites are fast, secure, accessible and SEO-friendly
- Manage updates, performance optimisation and overall site health
- Test across browsers and devices to ensure consistent user experiences
- Build and refine landing pages focused on conversion and usability
- Technical Development & Applications
- Customise themes and plugins using PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Support the development of basic web-based applications, tools or integrations
- Work with databases (MySQL) and APIs at a foundational level
- Follow best practices for security, performance and maintainability
- Digital Marketing & Content Support
- Assist with Google Ads and META (Facebook / Instagram) advertising campaigns
- Help build and send email newsletters and campaigns
- Support tracking, reporting and optimisation alongside the marketing team
- Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with designers, marketers and IT specialists across One IT Support and Halogen Creative
- Provide technical input during planning / concept stages and be comfortable attending client meetings
- Troubleshoot issues and propose practical, scalable solutions
- Contribute ideas to improve workflows, standards and delivery
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience building websites with WordPress
- A programming background, qualification or practical experience
- Working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Understanding of responsive design and web performance
- Strong attention to detail and pride in high-quality work
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with ACF and WooCommerce
- Exposure to Google Ads, META platforms or email marketing tools
- Experience building simple apps, dashboards or integrations
