One Day Agency is looking for a hands-on Finance Manager / Company Accountant to own the day-to-day finance function of a fast-growing integrated advertising agency. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing payroll, invoicing, payables, receivables, cashflow, month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT preparation, and supporting annual audit requirements. This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable owning the finance function in a growing SME, improving processes, and providing clear financial visibility to leadership.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Raise client invoices and follow up on debtor payments.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in Xero.
  • Process payroll and pension contributions.
  • Complete bank, supplier, client and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage accruals, prepayments and month-end journals.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow.
  • Prepare VAT returns and ensure HMRC compliance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning.
  • Prepare audit schedules and liaise with auditors at year end.
  • Maintain internal financial controls and improve finance processes.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to the CEO and leadership team.

What we are looking for:

  • AAT Level 4, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience.
  • Strong Xero experience.
  • Proven experience owning month-end finance processes.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cashflow.
  • Experience with payroll, VAT, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in an SME environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Media, advertising, marketing or project-based business experience would be helpful, but not essential.
