About the Role
One Can Trust has grown rapidly, now supporting around 450 people each week. As we launch our 2026–29 strategy, we’re seeking a Treasurer to help guide our charity’s finances and support our continued evolution.
What difference will you make?
As our Treasurer, you’ll help safeguard the resources that make our support possible for struggling households across our community. Your guidance will give the Board confidence as we plan for the future, respond to changing need, and make thoughtful decisions about how we grow. By bringing your financial expertise to our team, you’ll be helping to ensure that One Can Trust can continue to be a vital source of support for the people who rely on us.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone with solid financial experience who enjoys using their skills to help a growing local charity to thrive. You will feel confident preparing financial reports, asking good questions, and helping the Board understand the story behind the numbers. The ideal person is collaborative, steady, and comfortable offering both strategic insight and practical guidance. An understanding of the challenges facing local families, or lived experience of community hardship, would be especially welcome, but above all we’re looking for someone who cares about our mission and wants to help us plan wisely for the future.

What will you be doing?
One Can Trust has grown from a small foodbank into a trusted and respected local community organisation providing a range of services to support people in hardship, including children's and adults' clothes banks, parent and toddler groups, school meals and a community cafe. We have ambitious plans for the next three years and are seeking a Treasurer who is able to move at pace, supporting the CEO and board to make sound strategic decisions. We have a board with a broad range of expertise and are looking for someone who can present finance to non-finance trustees. Our staff team is also developing their financial understanding so it is important that you are able to coach staff in financial matters and help them develop their financial skills. We have a Finance and Risk Committee in addition to the main board, and the Treasurer will chair this committee.
